Atmospheric Climatology
The links
on the left allow one to view climatological
distributions of atmospheric data that are discussed in the text book: Atmosphere,
Ocean and Climate dynamics by John Marshall and Alan Plumb, published by Academic
Press.
The links enable you not only to view electronic versions of the figures but also to access the data on which the plots are based.
For example, the image below shows the zonal-average zonal wind as it appears in Fig. 5.20 of the text book. Now - and this is neat - if you click on the image you will be drawn through to the Lamont Doherty data archive which will allow you to interact with the data: for example re-plot it, zoom in on particular regions, manipulate and download the data to your computer etc.
