The Program in Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate oversees a broad program of education and research in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT.

Many of the most important discoveries in our science, such as chaos, the chemistry of the ozone hole and the physics of hurricanes were made by PAOC scientists.

Our People, Our Goal
PAOC comprises some 18 faculty, 60 graduate students and 40 research staff.

Our goal is to describe and understand the basic mechanisms that control the evolution of the global environment.
