Map #4: Final Destination: Red Jacket

1. Directions from MIT to the Red Jacket Beach Resort

·        Get onto Interstate 93 southbound (hereinafter 93 S) - best ways are the Longfellow Bridge to Storrow Drive or just take Mass Ave. down into south Boston and there is an exit that will put you on 93 S further down.

·        Take 93 S to U.S. Route 3 southbound (hereinafter 3 S) (Exit 7).

o       MISSED THE EXIT? SEE SECTION 2.

·        Take 3 S to the Sagamore Bridge (see Map #1).

·        Cross the Sagamore Bridge: you are now on U.S. Route 6 eastbound (hereinafter 6 E).

·        Take Exit 8 off of 6 E, turn right at the off-ramp onto Station Avenue (see Map #2).

o       MISSED THE EXIT? SEE SECTION 3

·        Follow road for 2 miles until reaching the traffic light at the intersection with Massachusetts Route 28 (hereinafter 28) (see Map #3).

·        Turn right onto 28 and follow for 2 miles.

·        Turn left onto Sea View Avenue and follow it all the way to the end. Follow signs for the Red Jacket Beach Resort (see Map #4).

·        Park. Unload. Check in. Have fun. Cocktail hour starts at 5:00 PM on Friday.

2. Alternate Route south from 93S

·        If you find yourself having overshot the exit for 3 S on 93 S, all is not lost. Continue to Massachusetts Route 24 southbound to Interstate 495 (hereinafter 495) and then take 495 southbound.

·        This will take you to the Bourne Bridge. Right across the canal in Bourne is a rotary with a nice topiary of "Cape Cod". Go three quarters of the way around this rotary and take the sign that says 6 E. Follow the directions in section 1 from this point.

3. Gone too far on Route 6?

·        If you find yourself still on 6 E in, say, Dennis or Harwich or worse yet, Orleans, you have gone too far.

·         Take the next available N/S road south to 28 and head back on 28 N (west) until you get to the above-mentioned Sea View Avenue. (For those unfamiliar with Cape geography, Yarmouth is just east of Hyannis/Barnstable).

DIRECTIONS TO RED JACKET BEACH RESORT
(from alternate locations)

Directions from Providence, RI

·        Take 95N to 195S to 25 (which is the merger of Rtes. 195 and 495). This will take you to the Bourne Bridge. Follow the directions from section 2 above.

Directions from WHOI

·        If you find yourself coming from WHOI, I know it's painful, but it's time for the 28 S crawl. Yarmouth is probably not far enough away to justify going up to Rte. 6 and then coming back down.

Rte. 28 S goes roughly east and Rte. 28 N goes roughly west for those unfamiliar with the wacky Cape roads.
